First Fire

Since I have been back from my parent's house I have had a lot of firsts. Walter and I had our first of the year camping trip, a short little stay at Farragut in between horrid spring storm systems. We also had our first walk out in the sagebrush at Escure Ranch near Lamont, Washington. We had never been there before. I finally picked up my new canoe from Mountain Gear and have been waiting (not so patiently) for a pocket of calm air to take it out for my first paddle. I just keep waiting. I have my fingers crossed for this afternoon. And I got rid of my stupid Blazer that was designed for 19 year old males and bought my first blue car. Here are a bunch of pictures that are in no apparent order.

Our warm and dry conversion Suburban. Note the extension cord which powered a space heater and lamp (it was damn cold and dark)

The new car and canoe waiting for winds below 30 mph

Beginning work on the garden (I am way back in the corner with the tiller) Things have grown up more and we have had quite a variety of wildlife in the backyard. There is the nightly covy of quail, a red tail hawk, tons of squirrels, nut hatches, gold finches, purple finches, chickidees and stuff I cannot even remember. It is too cool.

Coulee at Escure Ranch. It is owned by the BLM and is a fantastic spring hike back to Towel falls on Rock Creek.

Being silly

Looking down at the waterfall. The creek was too high and mucky for me to get too close for a good shot. The falls are about 15 feet high.
